A Packing Guide to Christmas at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year at the Scottsdale Princess. With festive activities planned and enchanting winter wonderland decorations aplenty, guests are sure to celebrate the season in a new and exciting way while making cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Whether you’re planning an intimate getaway or a family vacation, here are our tips for planning and packing for a magical holiday trip to Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.

With warmer temperatures in Scottsdale during December, you can forget about the stress of packing for snow-covered climates. Expect average temperatures around 68 °F or 20°C, so plan to pack warm weather clothes and leave the heavy winter layers at home. Bring a variety of shorts, dresses, tees and tanks as well a few dressier options for evenings out. Make sure to bring a few warmer layers so that cooler evening temperatures don’t catch you off guard.

Essential Packing List:

  • Shorts, tees and tanks
  • Jeans or casual pants
  • Dresses
  • Swimsuits for enjoying the six sparkling heated pools, featuring waterslides, cabanas and poolside service
  • Sandals for pool lounging
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Sneakers or comfortable walking shoes for exploring
  • Evening attire
  • Dress shoes for dining
  • Family outfits for your annual holiday greeting cards

For Desert Ice Skating

Get into the spirit of the holidays with a visit to the resort’s 6,000 square foot Desert Ice Skating Rink, made with real ice! Experience a classic winter tradition in the style of the desert, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert. With skates available to rent, all you have to bring is your sense of adventure (and a few extra layers to keep warm while skating). If you plan to skate, don’t forget long pants or tights, thick socks, and gloves.

Exploring the Lagoon Lights

See the resort’s majestic lagoons sparkle by the light of more than 4.5 million LED holiday lights. Put on your walking shoes and take your travel buddy or loved ones on an unforgettable stroll of the festive light displays, including swans floating on the water, fourteen-foot poinsettias, toy soldiers, a fishing Santa, the Loch Ness monster, a 3D whale, a menorah and candy cane forest. If there are little ones in your group, hitch a ride on one of the Princess Express Trains that goes past all of the amazing lights.

For Golfing in the Arizona Sunshine

Golf lovers can book a tee time right on the resort’s dazzling courses, or nearby greens. Our professional Golf Concierge can arrange convenient tee times on the Stadium, Champions, Raptor or Talon courses, depending on your preference and skill. Either way, you’ll practice your swing on some of the most lush fairways and picture-perfect greens in the area while taking in the stunning views of the desert. If you plan to golf, don’t forget to pack: golf shoes and a collared golf shirt.

For Christmas Brunch

Gather around the table with family and friends for a celebratory meal at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Four dynamic restaurants and five talented chefs from Bourbon Steak, La Hacienda, Toro Latin Restaurant & Rum Bar and Ironwood American Kitchen join forces to prepare one spectacular holiday feast held in the Palomino Ballroom. Put on your holiday best and get ready to celebrate (and feast) in style!

Celebrating Christmas at the Scottsdale Princess ensures three things: relaxation, adventure and sunshine. Whether you’re teeing off on the golf course, pampering yourself at the spa, or ice skating on the one-of-a-kind desert ice rink, you and your family are guaranteed to experience a holiday to remember.
